The Police confirm Xhabir Zharku’s arrest and provide details
The Kosovo Police confirmed the arrest of former mayor of Kacanik, Xhabir Zharku,.
Police spokesperson, Baki Kelani, told for Periskopi that Zharku is suspected for two offenses committed in 2010.
“Today, the Economic Crimes and Corruption Investigation Unit in Ferizaj had arrested a suspect for involvement in criminal offenses: ‘Abusing official position and authority’ and ‘Exercising influence’. The case allegedly took place on 2010, in Kacanik. By the decision of the prosecutor the suspect was sent to custody for 48 hours,” the police statement says.
Otherwise, in 2011 Xhabir Zharku was sentenced with three years of imprisonment, for the offense of coercion and illegal possession of a firearm. After sentencing was confirmed Zharku left Kosovo for nearly five and a half years. During all this period, former Kacanik mayor and the PDK official stayed in Sweden.
