Thaci’s message to skeptics and critics: The dialogue has no alternative
Kosovo President Hashim Thaci says today that the Globsec forum in Bratislava, Slovakia, was a good opportunity for Kosovo to introduce itself in an EU country that has not recognized Kosovo.
“The Globsec Forum is an extraordinary opportunity for Kosovo to affirm its own interests, as an independent and sovereign state, in a country that, along with four other EU countries, has not recognized Kosovo yet. We were able to meet with the US officials, and they confirmed that Kosovo will have US support in the future,” Thaçi says.
President also talked about the discussions he had in Bratislava with the Serbian and Montenegrin Presidents, Aleksandar Vucic and Milo Djukanovic.
“During the discussion with Presidents Vucic and Djukanovic we noticed fundamental differences, and that is quite normal. I reiterate once again that Serbia should implement all the agreements and obligations it has taken, like the IBM or energy, but it should also not hinder Kosovo Serb citizens on the bridge in the northern Mitrovica. In parallel, Serbia should not hinder Kosovo Serb citizens to participate in their status, as that is an obligation we’ve taken in Brussels,” he says.
“I think that the debate with Mr. Vucic was in the spirit of opportunities for dialogue continuation, and overcoming the obstacles we have, so that we can reach a final, all-inclusive agreement. Regardless of critics and skeptics, the dialogue has no alternative. Thank you,” Thaci concluded./periskopi/
