Moscow considers that creation of Kosovo Army represents “serious threat for security in the Balkans.”

According to a statement issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry, “creation of Kosovo Army and its supporting by the key NATO members represents a dramatic violation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution Nr. 1244, which stresses the need for demilitarization of all armed groups of Kosovo Albanians.”

Statement underlines that Russia had even prior to that considered that creation of the Kosovo Army represents a threat.

“At that time Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Vasiliy Nebenzya, said that Russia opposed the efforts of the Western countries to keep the UN Security Council discussion on the situation in Kosovo to minimum,” the Russian Ministry stresses in its statement.
