Prime Minister Kurti pays a tribute to Jashari family in Prekaz, but not at Rugova’s tomb
After his official inauguration as Prime Minister of Kosovo, Kurti went for homage to the “Adem Jashari” Memorial Complex, in Prekaz.
After he laid a wreath of flowers, Kurti said that freedom and the state of Kosovo are rooted in the sacrifice of nation’s heroes and martyrs, and above all in the Jashari sacrifice. According to him, Prekaz is the first place he visits as Prime Minister.
However, new Kosovo prime minister has not paid homage at the tomb of former President, Ibrahim Rugova, nor has clarified whether he intends to do that.
In fact, Kurti never visited Rugova’s tomb.
Albin Kurti is in coalition with the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), a party that is founded by Ibrahim Rugova. Thus, his failures to pay homage to Velania neighborhood become a matter of debates between the senior LDK figures and Kurti.
Once, Lutfi Haziri even stated that his main condition for Vetevendosje is to recognize Ibrahim Rugova’s role in the state-building process.
Whether the LDK will be blamed for this continual ignorance of Kurti for Rugova’s figure remains to be seen.
