It’s official: SBASHK goes on strike
Through a press release issued today the United Trade Union of Education, Science and Technology (SBASHK) announced that a two-day strike on education will be held on Friday.
According to SBASHK, Kosovo’s education workers will this way express their demand for December salaries to be received as defined the Law on salaries.
“After numerous discussions and following the demands of the education staff, the SBASHK Governing Council authorized its leadership and the union’s head to jointly launch actions, in coordination with the Federation of unions of Health and the Police. Based on this, and in full coordination with these two federations, on Friday (13.12.2019) a two-day warning strike will be held in all kindergartens, universities and both teaching shifts in all schools of Kosovo, with a request addressed for institutions that the employees in education – as well as all others – to receive the December salaries based on the Law on Salaries,” SBASHK underlined in its announcement.
“The two-day strike in kindergartens will start at 6:30 and will last till 8:30. Strike in universities will start at 8am and end up at 10am, while strike in all Kosovo schools will take place in the first two hours in both shifts,” the announcement specifies further.
In parallel, SBASHK warns institutions responsible for enforcing the Law on Salaries that the two-hour strike in education represents the last alarm and that anyone intending to disappoint Kosovo worker engaged in education, health and police should know that it will face more radical union reaction.
