In his new letter to Kurti, Thaci asks him whether he wants to accept or reject the mandate
Kosovo’s President, Hashim Thaçi, sent today a new letter to the leader of Vetevendosje, Albin Kurti, by underlining that he’s waiting for his response as promised during their joint consultative meeting, though there’s no proposal yet.
As the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo became functional Thaçi said that its citizens are now waiting to have a functioning government, hence they expect from him, as the president, to decree the proposed candidate for the prime minister.
“As the president of the Republic of Kosovo, I’m obliged to take action without further delay, and by following all constitutional steps in order for the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo to have their government as soon as possible. By taking into account the democratic principles, transparency and political correctness, I’ve give you the opportunity and have repeatedly requested from you to nominate a candidate for the prime minister,” Thaci writs to Kurti, by emphasizing that he is also considering the Article 87 of the Constitutional Court Judgment, for the case No. K0103/14, which notes “that it is not excluded that the party or coalition in question will refuse to take the office.”
Hence, Thaçi has asked Kurti to inform him if he is going to accept or reject the mandate, in order to take all necessary steps set forth by the Constitution and to decree the candidate for the Prime Minister, who will then form the Government of the Republic of Kosovo.
