Hoti: The deal with VV will be reached during upcoming days; there’s no reason for its failure
The LDK deputy, Avdullah Hoti, says that final agreement for joint government with Vetevendosje Movement will occur during upcoming days, as there is no reason for its failure.
In an interview with Ekonomia Online news portal, Hoti says that LDK remains confident on reaching the agreement with VV, while urged the latter to refrain from statements.
“I expect that talks will end up and that the two leaders will comment it in details. I believe we’ve been quite transparent so far on how to negotiate a coalition agreement, and that it represents a new standard. We’re now at the stage when negotiating the responsibilities of each side. I can’t say anything more than this, until all issues are being settled,” he says.
“Two meetings have taken place at leader’s level. I believe that in the third or fourth meeting, that will occur within few days, these positions will be approximated. Hence, there’s nothing unnatural, as negotiations are happening now, the program negotiations have been held for three consecutive weeks, six meetings for three consecutive weeks of working groups from both parties. Now, after agreeing on all program issues the discussions have continued on the level of political leaders, as both sides need to define their responsibilities within institutions. Expectations are positive, and I therefore expect that this issue will be concluded as soon as possible,” he added.
According to Hoti, both parties should be cautious in statements as they need to respect each other, because both parties have worked well as opposition, hence cooperation between them is possible in the government as well.
“It’s about statements made by certain VV officials, which I don’t want to comment. I believe that we should respect each other and let the two leaders to align their positions during joint meetings, in order to reach an agreement that is acceptable to both sides. What’s even more important is that the two political parties, which until yesterday were in opposition, have set back then a good standard of cooperation; a relationship of mutual trust was built, that now serves for reaching an agreement. All negotiations made so far I believe are as well based on mutual trust, that we’ve created so far,” Hoti clarified further.
“It’s important for certain VV officials to not give any hastily statements, while we’re still discussing issues. I don’t believe that there is a reason for failing to reach an agreement. At least, it will not fail from our side, as we have shown willingness – even before the results were certified, to approximate stances as the two political parties. I thus expect all this efforts to be concluded with an agreement within few days,” he says.
As Hoti says further that his party is now waiting for the president to convene a constitutional session, a move that will be followed by an official agreement with Vetevendosje.
“I honestly believe there is tremendous interest from the citizens, the media and everyone else for these negotiations between the two partners to be concluded, but I also say that there is nothing extraordinary, or unnatural in these talks. Election were certified few days ago, and registration of the deputies has started, I thus expect that president will soon convene the first inaugural session, and by then I believe we will approximate our positions,” Hoti concluded.
