Architect of Kosovo’s Independence Plan, Albert Rohan dies
Austrian politician Albert Rohan died today at the age of 83 in Vienna, after a long career as a diplomat at foreign ministry.
Rohan originated from an aristocratic French family that emigrated in Austria at the end of the 18th century. He had family ties with Queen Geraldine, the wife of the Albanian king Ahmet Zogu.
Rohan has been harsh to Serbian politics of 1990s and has strongly rejected plans for the partition of Kosovo.
During the negotiations in Vienna, Rohan, along with former Finnish President Martti Ahtisaari, drafted a plan that led to the independence of Kosovo.
