Periskopi has reported during the day that the meeting of the Government of Kosovo was postponed for tomorrow due its intern disagreements over the tariff. Meanwhile, Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister, Avdullah Hoti wrote on Facebook that the tariff on Serbian goods represents an insurmountable obstacle for the U.S. and the EU.

“The American involvement in the dialogue has changed the dynamics of negotiation. Secretary Pompeo’s position and Ambassador Grenell’s commitment that the sovereignty of the Republic of Kosovo is very important for the future of the region, and that the Peace Agreement between Kosovo and Serbia should result in mutual recognition, are the guarantees for our negotiating position and our goals in the dialogue.

The dialogue should be led by the Government of Kosovo, which carries the political legitimacy delegated by the Assembly of Kosovo. As soon as possible we’ll be included, we will get more time for more favorable negotiation of the Final Agreement.

The tariff on Serbian and Bosnian goods represents an insurmountable obstacle for international community, the U.S. and the EU. Any tariff waiver postponement seriously compromises our negotiating position in this dialogue, damages our relationship with the U.S. and the EU, and risks isolating the Government and our country.

There’s no single measure of ours that can defend or advance our position, unless it’s supported by the U.S. and the EU.

The Government of the Republic of Kosovo should drop ‘the famous’ tariff and sit down with its friends at the Dialogue table.

Any other alternative will seriously endanger country’s future,” Hoti wrote.
