Maliqi: Kurti and Thaci must unite, as Grenell will now deal with Kosovo even more

Political analyst, Agon Maliqi, says wrote today that appointment of the U.S. Ambassador, Richard Grenell, as the head of the National Intelligence Agencies doesn’t mean that he will not deal with Kosovo.

In fact, according to Maliqi, Grenelli’s new appointment represents a push towards finalization of the Kosovo-Serbia agreement, which will by him be qualified as a personal project.

“You’re seriously mistaken if you think that Grenell won’t deal with us now that he’s up there. In fact, it’s likely that the opposite will happen – that he will push this issue as a personal project from that high position well, as it is likely that aspires the Secretary of State post in Trump’s second term (if he wins, and for the time being his chances are real). According to the media reports so far, in parallel Grenell is likely to hold the post of Ambassador to Germany. This is not a traditional U.S. Administration, as it operates almost like a Balkan government. Actually, a national consensus is crucial for the next phase, especially between Kurti (as the man with the most political legitimacy) and Thaci (as the charismatic man who imposed himself in the process). The approach so far, of extreme reluctance (by Kurti) and of excessive protagonism (by Thaci), can have bad consequences for us. Kosovo, the size of an Istanbul neighborhood, is overestimating its weight in this period of tectonic oscillations,” Maliqi wrote on his Facebook account.
