Mustafa contradicts Kurti and Osmani: Reciprocity measures with Serbia may prove complex and with consequences
Continuation of the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, strictly linked with abolition of the 100 percent tariff, is one of the main challenges that the government headed by Albin Kurti will face. LVV- the LDK coalition agreement specifies that this measure will be abolished and replace it with full political and economic reciprocity with Serbia.
However, the path to this process is not being looked the same by both partners.
Leader of the LDK, Isa Mustafa, told the new portal Gazeta Express that reciprocity is very complex and has multidimensional consequences.
Kosovo Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, has tackled this issue, noting that the government will decide on full political and economic reciprocity with Serbia. And, although Kurti remains convinced on the principle of reciprocity, about which both partners had agreed upon, seem like the LDK now sees this as not so feasible. Speaking to the media yesterday, the Assembly Speaker, Vjosa Osmani, said that this issue requires a study. She repeated the same attitude a bit later through a post on Facebook.
Head of the LDK spoke on this topic today. Mr. Mustafa said on Thursday that dialogue and the tariffs imposed by the Haradinaj Government are among many tasks new government has.
According to Mustafa, Vetevendosje agreed that the tariff should be linked to reciprocity, and this is now up to the government.
“Earlier this week the government is elected, and it has a lot of work ahead, including dialogue and the tariff set by the Haradinaj Government. In the governing program we agreed that the tariff should be related to reciprocity. This is now a matter of government and I would like to spare myself from defining how it should be done,” Mustafa says.
“But, I have to say that this issue (reciprocity) is very complex and with multidimensional consequences. I believe that the Government can find the best way, in coordination with our international partners, especially with the U.S. and the EU,” he explained.
