Day two: Kurti increases the number of deputy ministers, again

Periskopi.info News

At a joint press conference with the Head of the EU Office in Kosovo, Mrs. Natalia Apostolova, Kosovo Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, has revealed something strange. After increasing the number of ministers from 12 to 15, he has now decided to increase the number of deputy ministers, as well.

Decision for increasing the number of ministers from 12 to 15 has caused a lot of discussions in Kosovar opinion. In fact, in addition to violating electoral promises, Lista Srpska has earned one more ministry, although it continues to act destructively in relation to the Republic of Kosovo.

The co-government agreement clearly states that number of the deputy ministers would be 33. However, in his last appearance at the Assembly of Kosovo, Kurti used the term “around 33”, which expresses uncertainty. So his initial 33 became around. And the last makes sense, as in the joint press conference held today with Mrs. Apostolova, Mr. Kurti said that the new Kosovo Government will have 35 deputy ministers. This means that in addition to the number of ministers, Prime Minister Kurti has increased the number of deputy ministers in his Government as well.

From the current number of deputy ministers, at least five ministries will have three deputy ministers in their office. It is not known if the number of deputy ministers will continue to rise again, as was seen and widely criticized during the era of former Prime Minister, Ramush Haradinaj.

Previously, when it was thought that the Kurti Government will have just 12 ministries, he stressed couple of times that his government will have around 24 deputy ministers.
