During today’s session of the Kosovo Assembly, Albin Kurti is expected to be voted as the next Prime Minister of the Republic.

During his addressing he, among other, indicated that his program foresees mandatory military service.

According to this point of Kurti’s program, young men and women of the Republic of Kosovo will be forced to serve the military service for three months. However, Kurti is not indicating what age groups such a law will affect, Periskopi reports.

In most countries where military service is obligatory minimum age for starting such service is 18. In Albania, where military service is voluntary, the minimum age for serving military service is 19. In Angola, this it is between 20 and 45 years of age. Some other countries also have the 45-years of age as the limit when one can serve the military service.

The Kosovars were forced to serve the military service during former Yugoslavia, and quite many didn’t have good experiences from that period.

Otherwise, during election campaign Mr. Kurti had promised to increase the military budget to 400 million Euros, during the next four years.
