Thaci: I expressed our disappointment to Borrell for not getting visa liberalization
Kosovo’s president, Hashim Thaci, says that he expressed disappointment of Kosovo’s citizens to the European diplomat for not getting visa liberalization.
“I thank Mr. Borrell for his visit to Kosovo. We have had a great conversation about the future of Kosovo and of the Western Balkans. The very first visit that Mr. Borrell makes to Kosovo represents a strong message for the Balkan region to proceed further. It also shows increase of the EU attention, in a crucial moment for the European future of our country, and for its Euro-Atlantic development. This kind of visit is thus highly welcome. Kosovo’s orientation is very clear; it has to work on integration and reforms, in economy, politics or legislation, in order for Kosovo to be part of NATO and the EU. In this regard, Kosovo is interested in working in all forms, as well as in fulfilling its obligations for peace and regional stability. However, this process requires the commitment of all parties as well, especially trust. This trust needs to be promoted on the basis of merits. I spoke with Mr. Borrell, and I told him that Kosovo was treated unfairly on the visa liberalization process, as Kosovo met all the criteria for this process. I therefore expressed disappointment of all Kosovo citizens for not getting visa liberalization,” Thaci said.
