Following the death of the Kosovo policeman, Sami Thaqi, Kosovo President, Hashim Thaci, declared Thursday as a day of mourning in Kosovo.

In accordance with the legislation in force, on the day of mourning the state flags will be hoisted in half in all Kosovo institutions buildings, here and abroad.

Today President Thaçi also issued a “Hero of Kosovo” order to policeman Sami Thaqi.

“The heroism of Sami, Enver, Izet and of dozens of other policemen fallen in the line of duty, represents a pride for the Republic of Kosovo. Their sacrifice for protection of the rule of law obliges us to work harder for a peaceful and stable Kosovo and for a better place for all our citizens,” Thaci said.
