The verdict against the accused in the Pronto case has been announced this morning.

The defendants involved on the Pronto affair have been acquitted, as it is not proven to have committed criminal offenses for which they were charged. The final verdict was read today by Presiding Judge Shashivar Hoti, who also said that the court will provide a writing reasoning on the case.

Lawyer Besnik Berisha, who defended former Minister Besim Beqaj, said that the process has proved that the prosecution is stifled.

Following the announcement of final verdict, Berisha told the reporters that investigations and the indictments were selective, as persons who were responsible for the illegal employments prosecution didn’t even have the courage to interview as case witnesses.

Former PDK deputy, Adem Grabovci, former Minister of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Besim Beqaj, former PDK deputy, Zenun Pajaziti, and eight other defendants were accused on the offense of “violating equal status of the citizens and residents of the Republic of Kosovo, in co-perpetration.”

Accusation against them underlines that during October, November and December 2011 they have  illegally appointed people, close to them or with their party, in the publicly-owned companies Trainkos, Infrakos, Hydro-Drini, Radoniqi-Dukagjini, etc.

Following the prosecution’s  indictment based on ”Pronto” wiretaps, the trial against the group began on 1 October 2018, and on 15 November Grabovci, Beqaj, Pajaziti and the other 8 defendants pleaded not guilty.
