Hill: Five EU countries have ‘their own Kosovos’
Former US Special Envoy for Kosovo, Christopher Robert Hill thinks that five EU countries that didn’t’ recognize Kosovo “have their own Kosovos”, seeking their own independence.
Words for border change are just “symptoms” for the Kosovo problem, says Christopher Hill for the Serbian edition of Deutsche Welle.
“I feel sorrow that in 2019 we still have five EU member states that didn’t recognize Kosovo’s independence yet. Though, I understand the reasons, as each has its own Kosovo,” Hill added.
“However, if you ask me about my position, I like Kosovo being an independent state, as its people wanted it to be independent, although in order for this state to be accepted by its neighbors and all of the Europe there’s still a lot of work to be done,” he clarified.
“I think that the issue of Kosovo is the matter that separates Europe from its goal, of becoming completed and in peace,” Hill said.
Otherwise, Christopher Hill (66) is currently a professor of Diplomatic Practice at Denver University. He has been involved in diplomacy since he was 26, when he was sent to serve at the US Embassy in Belgrade.
He was also part of ‘the Troika’ for Kosovo, together with the European envoy Wolfgang Petrich, and his Russian counterpart Boris Mayorski, reports Koha.net.
